So your family is in town for the holiday, it’s the day after Thanksgiving, and no one wants to go Black Friday shopping. What else is there to do in Steel City on November 27th? Plenty!
- Family Day 2015 at the Mattress Factory art museum features lots of kid-friendly activities that are free with admission. The Mattress Factory, bursting at the seams with modern art installations, is normally not the most kid-friendly place, but giving kids a chance to make their own works of art, get their faces painted, and participate in a scavenger hunt through the museum.
- Allegheny County Park ice rinks will be open in North Park as well as South Park. The rinks will be open 9 a.m.-11 a.m., noon-3 p.m., 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Weather permitting, it might just be the perfect day for a skate.
- The Warhol Book Hunt is on! Follow #warholbookhunt on Twitter, Instagram, and Vine to get clues on where the latest book is hidden. Then, go on a scavenger hunt through the city to find the book and return it to the Warhol Museum to be added to the shelf. Finding the book gets you some pretty nice prizes, including free admission to the museum.
- A Waltz Tradition at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts is at 8 p.m. This kick-off to the holiday season will feature the Pittsburgh Symphony as well as the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School. Close out your anti-Black Friday with some nice culture.
